Nanchang University Queen Mary School

As the executive unit of educational cooperation between Nanchang University (NCU) and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), Queen Mary School is comprehensively responsible for the management and operation of the joint programme and the joint education institute (JEI). It represents a distinguished example within China's medical Sino-foreign cooperative education sector, renowned for its established heritage and dynamic innovative approach.

The joint programme of Clinical Medicine/Biomedical Sciences between NCU and QMUL was approved by the China Ministry of Education in 2012 ( the approval number: MOE36UK2A20121354N), which was the first Sino-foreign joint programme in clinical medicine in China. Over a decade, it strictly complies with the dual Chinese-UK quality standards, and has made outstanding achievements in education, which earned widespread recognition and solidified the foundation for an enhanced partnership for both universities. In the year of 2025, the collaboration between NCU and QMUL expanded significantly with the establishment of JEI (the approval number: MOE36UKA02DNR20252501N). The JEI serves as a model for high-level international medical education in Jiangxi Province, marking the evolution from a single program to a comprehensive "program-institution" collaborative framework.

At the undergraduate level, the school offers the joint programme education of Clinical Medicine (NCU) /Biomedical Sciences (QMUL), and the majors of Laboratory Medicine Technology (NCU) /Precision Medical Sciences (QMUL), Data Sciences and Big Data Technology (NCU) /Biomedical Data Sciences (QMUL). At the postgraduate level, it offers the major of Clinical Medical Sciences (subdiscipline: Precision Medical Sciences) (NCU) / Advanced Human Genomics (QMUL). Students have the opportunity to obtain the relevant academic qualification and degree certificate from NCU and the bachelor or master degree from QMUL when they fulfill the graduation requirements.

Adopting the glocalization educational model, Queen Mary School integrates premier resources of both universities to generate an integrated and a comprehensive training system. A joint team of academic staff from both sides delivers teaching, with British teachers traveling to NCU to teach modules. Students will receive globalized and seamless support from foundational knowledge and practical training to scientific research innovation.

Queen Mary School steadfastly maintains a socialist orientation in education, guided by the principle of cultivating talent for the Party and the nation. Upholding the philosophy of "Spirit of medical endeavour, knowledge and service. A bridge reaching out into the world. British and Chinese elites together building a world-class education." Its mission is to integrate top-tier Sino-British medical education resources and research innovation wisdom, and cultivate new medical professionals who are rooted in China's healthcare context, with global vision, cross-cultural competence and interdisciplinary thinking to serve the "Healthy China" initiative and global health.

For future vision, Queen Mary School is committed to fostering virtue through education, and adopting a student-centered approach. It aims to establish itself as a cross-cultural, high-impact, practice-oriented platform for cultivating international and interdisciplinary medical talents, setting a benchmark for quality in Sino-foreign cooperative education. Consequently, the school serves to assist in the construction of NCU's "Double First-Class", enhance the international stature of medical education in Jiangxi Province, and contribute the unique strengths of the Sino-British partnership to building China's strength in education and a "Healthy China".
