Nanchang University Queen Mary School's Class of 2026 Graduation Ceremony Held Successfully

On June 18, the Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferral Ceremony for the Class of 2026 of Nanchang University Queen Mary School were grandly held at the Academic Auditorium of the Medical Science and Technology Innovation Center on the Qianhu South Campus. The ceremony was simultaneously livestreamed online, attracting nearly 550,000 views. Prof. Chen Yeguang, President of Nanchang University (NCU) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Prof. Pan Bingxing, Vice President of NCU; Prof. Colin Bailey, President and Principal of Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering; Prof. Wen Wang, Vice President of QMUL and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, along with supervisors from both universities, Chinese and British faculty, and parent representatives gathered together to witness the Class of 2026 embark on a brand-new chapter in their lives. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Luo Zhijun, Dean of Queen Mary School.

President Chen Yeguang delivered a speech. He systematically reviewed the cooperation journey between the two universities: in 2012, they jointly established the first Sino-foreign cooperative education programme in medicine nationwide, and in 2025, Queen Mary School was officially approved as the Joint Education Institute—a significant milestone in deepening international collaboration and innovating medical education. He fully affirmed the outstanding achievements of this year's graduates and encouraged all students to carry forward the core values of "patriotism, self-improvement, innovation, and pragmatism," cultivate a deep sense of national commitment, broaden international perspectives, persist in exploration and innovation, uphold the mission of physicians, and safeguard people's life and health with superb medical skills and compassionate hearts.

President Colin Bailey extended his best wishes to all graduates and highly recognized the effectiveness of the Joint Programme. He noted that Queen Mary University of London boasts top comprehensive academic strength, ranking among the world’s top 100 universities in the U.S. News Global University Rankings and claiming the 7th position nationwide in the UK’s latest Research Excellence Framework assessment. He emphasized that the five-year training model, integrating premium medical education resources from both universities, has laid a solid professional foundation for the students. He encouraged all students to cherish what they have learned, maintain a lifelong passion for knowledge, stay in touch with both alma maters, and continue to write remarkable stories about Queen Mary School around the world.

During the award ceremony, the NCU Excellent Graduate Award, the Queen Mary University of London Principal Award, and the College Prize were presented on site, recognizing the graduates' diligent study, thoughtful inquiry, and courageous striving.

Subsequently, parent representative Cao Shiying delivered a speech, sharing her genuine feelings over five years of accompanying her daughter's academic journey, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the school for its meticulous and thoughtful educational work, and presenting a banner to the school on behalf of all parents. Student representative Song Qimin reviewed his five years of study in the Joint Programme, shared insights on facing setbacks and growing through reflection, and made a youthful pledge to stay true to the original aspiration of medicine and forge ahead with determination. After the speeches, all graduates stood up and bowed to express their sincere gratitude to their parents who had accompanied them throughout the journey and to their mentors who had imparted knowledge with dedication, filling the venue with warmth.

At the end of the ceremony, the presidents of both universities personally conferred degrees upon each graduate, turning the tassel and presenting their degree certificates.

During the ceremony, President Chen Yeguang held a cordial meeting with President Colin Bailey. Following the graduation ceremony, the Sino-British graduation gala and the appointment of alumni liaison officers were held.

After five years of assiduous study, the new voyage begins today.
