Nanchang University (NCU)

Nanchang University (NCU) is one of the universities selected in China as construction plan of “double first-class” disciplines. One of the 14 jointly supported by China central government and local provincial government, ranking 15th in the list of “Distinguished Medical Alumni”in 2020. NCU is composed of faculty of medicine (Jiangxi Medical College), faculty of liberal arts and social sciences, faculty of science and engineering. The University contains 132 undergraduate majors in 12 disciplines with high-level and reputed staff, such as adjunct academicians, chief scientist of the national project 973 and so on. It is evaluated as Excellence in undergraduate teaching by expert panel of China Ministry of Education.

The history of Nanchang University Jiangxi Medical College (faculty of medicine) is traced back to Jiangxi Public Medical School that was founded in 1921. For more than 100 years, Nanchang University Jiangxi Medical College has been adhering to the mission of “noble ethics and superb medical skills”, and carry forward the school spirit of “rigorous, diligent, unity, innovation”. It has cultivated a large number of outstanding medical talents who have established their careers inside and outside China. Many alumni are internationally well known, for example, Professors Zhao Baige, Rao Yi, Ding Jian, Guan Yi, and Mei Lin. In Jiangxi Medical College, there are 252 full-time faculty members with 78 full professors and 1395 clinical staff with 473 full professors. Among them, one received the honor of national “Thousand Talents Innovation Project”, one national “Thousand Young Talents Plan”, one Leading Scientist of “Ten Thousand Talents Project”, one “National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholar”, three Distinguished Professor for the China Ministry of Education's national major talent project, five scholars of “National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project”, one scholar of “New Century Excellent Talents Project”, and five Jiangxi “Jinggang Scholars”. In the year of 2021, clinical medicine has been ranked within the top 1.77‰ of ESI.
