Our Students Present at Global Academic Conferences

Recently, Cao Yiyang and Li Fengze, 2023 cohort students in the Clinical Medicine (Sino-UK Dual-Degree Cooperative Education Joint Program) at Nanchang University Queen Mary School, were invited to participate in multiple international academic conferences. They shared their research findings through oral presentations, reflecting the school’s commitment to cultivating interdisciplinary medical talents.

Cao Yiyang: Attending International Academic Conferences to Explore New Directions in Precision Disease Prediction

In June 2026, the 34th Annual Scientific Congress of the Hong Kong College of Cardiology (HKCC ASC2026) was successfully held. The conference brought together leading cardiovascular experts from the Asia-Pacific region and focused on cutting-edge areas such as cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome and disease risk prevention and control. At the conference, Cao Yiyang delivered an academic presentation titled “A Metabolomic Clock Predicts Cardiovascular Disease in Early Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic Syndrome.” The study focused on early CKM syndrome, constructed a metabolomic clock, and further evaluated its predictive value for future cardiovascular disease risk, providing new research ideas for risk stratification and precision prediction in early CKM populations.

Cao Yiyang expressed his appreciation to Nanchang University Queen Mary School and his research group for providing research training and platforms for academic exchange. He stated that he would continue to explore his research in the precision prediction of cardiovascular disease and multi-organ health in the future.

Li Fengze: Presenting at Conferences in Germany and the UK, Deepening Interdisciplinary Research in Immunology and Bioinformatics

In September 2026, the 55th Annual Meeting of the German Society for Immunology (DGFI 2026) was held at the Technical University of Munich. As one of the major academic conferences in the field of immunology in Europe, it attracted more than a thousand immunology researchers from around the world. Li Fengze was invited to give an oral presentation titled “Multi-omics and Machine Learning Reveal LILRB4 as a Shared Molecular Hub Linking Myocardial Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury and Glioma.”

In the same month, Li Fengze traveled to Belfast, United Kingdom, to attend the 13th International Conference on Bioinformatics Research and Applications (ICBRA 2026). The conference focused on bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, multi-omics analysis, and biomedical research. Due to its selective review process, only 10 submissions were selected for the oral presentation session this year. In his presentation, he elaborated on the application of technologies such as multi-omics integration, single-cell sequencing analysis, and machine learning modeling in mechanistic research on complex diseases, and engaged in academic discussions with participating scholars on the associations between multi-omics data and disease mechanisms. Following his presentation, the conference organizers awarded him a certificate of commendation.

Reflecting on his conference experience, Li Fengze said that his opportunities to present at international conferences as an undergraduate were supported by Nanchang University Queen Mary School’s all-English teaching system and systematic undergraduate research training. He will integrate the insights from international exchange into his future professional study and research practice, and continue to explore the interdisciplinary research in medicine.

Both Cao Yiyang and Li Fengze have developed strong interests in research alongside their excellent academic performance. Outside of coursework, they actively participate in research training. They self-taught bioinformatics and, under the guidance of their teachers, combined it with medical questions of personal interest, used publicly database to investigate medical question of interests, and analyzed existing research to propose new ideas, which won praise from peer experts. The experience of Cao Yiyang and Li Fengze reflect the opportunities available to undergraduate students at Nanchang University Queen Mary School to engage in research and international academic exchange. The school is committed to cultivating interdisciplinary medical talents with innovative thinking, research capabilities, and international communication skills.

Going forward, Nanchang University Queen Mary School will continue to leverage the advantages of Sino-foreign cooperative education, strengthen high-level international academic exchange platforms, and provide students with more opportunities to participate in global academic dialogue and interdisciplinary research.
