Queen Mary School 2024 New Student Meeting and Enrollment Education Session were Successfully Held

On the afternoon of September 14, 2024, the Queen Mary School, 2024 New Student Meeting and Enrollment Education Session was successfully held in the lecture hall of the first teaching building. Presiding over the gathering was Professor Luo Zhijun, Dean of school, Lu Kemin, Party Secretary of school , other school leaders, faculty members, and the entire current freshmen class of Queen Mary School. This meeting aimed to help incoming students smoothly transition into their new university lives, acquire a better understanding of the school, determine their educational goals, and lay a solid foundation for their future development. The meeting was hosted by Duan Dehua, the Deputy  Party Secretary of the school.

The activity commenced with a video of the school, which highlighted the advanced teaching facilities, various extracurricular activities available to the students, and excellent teachers of the school. It also greatly illustrated the school’s profound cultural heritage and outstanding educational quality, and filled each new student with enthusiastic expectations for a new chapter in life at university.

Lu Kemin firstly welcomed the admission of new students, expressed his best wishes to the new students, and asked them to establish the correct core values, to maintain an appropriate outlook on life and view of world, to actively devote themselves to practice, to strive to pursue their dreams and realize personal values and to be ready to contribute to the modernization of the country and the improvement of the health of the Chinese nation.

Zhang Yanxuan, from the class of 2024, and Tang Zhibo, from the class of 2020, spoke as representatives of freshmen and seniors respectively. Zhang Yanxuan expressed his expectation and determination for the future in a tender but confident voice. Tang Zhibo shared his story of growth and his valuable experiences from the perspective of study, research and university life. The speeches of new and senior students not only passed on knowledge and wisdom, but also exhibited the unique spirit and feelings of Queen Mary School, and inspired every new student to go forward and in the pursuit of excellence.

Professor Hu Xiaojuan, introduced the school's training model in detail. She stressed the difference between university and high school, encouraged everyone to develop independent and cooperative learning habits and answered everyone's questions about the special teaching model of Queen Mary School by way of proposing solutions to the learning difficulties shared by all freshmen. Professor Hu's explanation was straightforward yet profound, which provided invaluable learning guidance for the freshmen.

Finally, Professor Luo Zhijun, brought the event to a successful conclusion with an inspiring speech. First of all, Professor Luo told the students that the two-week military training period is an exercise of will, perseverance and discipline, and the subsequent period of study is a mental practice, which is more challenging than the physical activities of military training. Professor Luo hoped that everyone could prepare for it psychologically and cope with it appropriately. Professor Luo made a summary speech on the school's educational philosophy and major development, emphasized the faculty strength and training mode of the school, and encouraged students to actively participate in various activities of the school, exercising their learning and social abilities, as well as becoming patriotic and self-strengthening, mature socialist construction talents. He also stressed the importance of "self-knowledge" and "planning," in the hope that every new student can cherish their time at university, seize the opportunities available, make a sound strategic plans for the future. Professor Luo's speech was insightful and sincere, and everyone responded with warm and lasting applause.

This activity not only deepened the understanding of the school for the class of 2024, but more, it helped them to determine their learning goals and directions. We sincerely hope and expect that in the coming days, they will be able to thrive on the fertile soil of Queen Mary School and write their own wonderful chapters.
