GapSummit 2022 was held in Cambridge University, UK, from September 5th to September 7th 2022. GapSummit is an annual student-run, world-class biotechnology leadership summit with the core objectives of substantively discussing pressing challenges facing the biomedicine and bio-economy and catalyzing innovation to solve these challenges.

Each year, GapSummit competitively selects 100 Leaders of Tomorrow from around the world with a proven track record of leadership and expertise in the biotech field to attend the summit and the competition in Cambridge University. Pu Changqin, a student of 2019 Cohort of Queen Mary School, is the only Chinese participant invited to attend the summit and the Voice of Tomorrow Competition this year. It is worth mentioning that there are only two undergraduates among 100 Leaders of Tomorrow this year, and one of our students holds the position. After three days of fierce competition, Pu Changqin stood out among a number of master, doctoral and post-doctoral competitors, and won the second prize in the global finals.

After the competition, Pu Changqin was very grateful for the trainning of the school, he said: " It is my great honor to participate in the GapSummit this year. I am also very thankful to the school teachers for their supports and encouragement. After this summit, I have a deeper understanding of the teaching advantages of Queen Mary School and the thoughtful arrangement of the curriculum. Comparing with the traditional college courses, we have the opportunity to have an early access to the cutting-edge knowledge in the world biotechnology and biomedical field , which makes our students always in line with the international standards. When attending the summit, I was surprised to find that the main research fields of the frontier pharmaceutical companies around the world are all the science that I had already learned. In the biomedical competition, relying on the frontier technology learned in the Cancer and Precision medicine courses, I finally won the runner-up in the global2022 Voices of Tomorrow Competition, ranking the second place in the world."
