Ms. Sarah Mann, British Consul-General in Guangzhou and a delegation visited Nanchang University Queen Mary School

On September 27th, Sarah Mann, the British Consulate-General in Guangzhou, and her delegation visited the Nanchang University Queen Mary School for mutual exchange and communication. Du Jianqiang, Vice President of Nanchang University, Xiao Yiming, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education, Tao Qin, an officer from the America, Europe, and Oceania Division of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government, and the management officer of the International Exchange Office of Nanchang University also attended and accompanied the visit. Luo Zhijun, Dean of the Queen Mary School and He Yun, Associate Dean of the Queen Mary School were involved in the reception.

Vice President Du Jianqiang welcomed Ms. Sarah Mann and her delegation, and briefly introduced the history and scale of Nanchang University, its academic specialties, as well as its strategy of internationalization. Du emphasized that Nanchang University has always adhered to an open and inclusive international education philosophy, actively establishing extensive cooperative relationships with renowned universities worldwide. He particularly pointed out that the university has achieved fruitful cooperation with many British institutions, especially the joint programme co-hosted with Queen Mary University of London. This project not only pioneered the first international medical education program in China, but also became a model for educational cooperation in the field of medicine between China and the UK, winning high recognition and praise both domestically and internationally.

In her subsequent speech, Ms. Sarah Mann elaborated on the background and far-reaching significance of this visit. She expressed that with the advancement of high-level dialogues between China and the UK, cooperation between the two countries has become increasingly close in multiple fields, possessing high potential for continued cooperation and broad prospects for further development. The purpose of this visit to Nanchang University is to conduct in-depth discussions on the topic of health and medical development, and with the hope that the joint program can serve as a bridge to further promote exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK in education, scientific research, culture, and other fields.

Dean Luo introduced the development progress and educational achievements of the joint programme to the guests at the meeting. Through cases and detailed data, he demonstrated the remarkable results achieved by the project in innovating teaching methods, improving quality control systems, and enhancing the quality of talent cultivation. He also emphasized the significant role that the project has played in introducing high-quality educational resources from the UK and promoting in-depth cooperation between the two universities.

Ms. Sarah Mann spoke highly of the project and expressed her continued full support for exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK in the field of higher education. She hoped that Nanchang University could provide opportunities for British students to come to China to study Chinese and pursue further education opportunities.
