Queen Mary School Wins 1 National Gold and 4 National Silver Awards at the 2025 China International College Students’ Innovation Competition

On 15 October 2025, the grand final of the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2025) concluded at Zhengzhou University. In this high-level competition that brought together innovative resourcefulness from universities around the world, the teams from Queen Mary School achieved remarkable success. With solid academic foundations, forward-thinking innovation, and outstanding on-site performance, our teams secured one national gold award and four national silver awards in the International Track of the Higher Education Main Competition.

Students at Queen Mary School hold dual registration at both Nanchang University and Queen Mary University of London, enabling them to develop a global outlook and strong interdisciplinary competences. They have become a major force behind our university’s achievements in the competition’s international track.

Since our students first won a national silver award in 2019, Queen Mary School teams have continued to press forward with determination. From tackling technical challenges to refining project solutions, they have produced a stream of innovative outcomes and delivered outstanding results year after year.

Project Overview:
The PanSharp project addresses the long-standing challenge of pancreatic cancer detection. By integrating magnetic enrichment with electrochemical sensing technology on a microfluidic chip, the device significantly improves the sensitivity and efficiency of serum biomarker detection. This innovation overcomes the limitations of existing methods, such as low detection rates and high invasiveness, by offering a non-invasive and rapid screening solution for high-risk populations in both community and hospital settings.

Focused precisely on the pressing need for early pancreatic cancer diagnosis, the PanSharp team has demonstrated strong technical capability and a commitment to addressing real medical challenges. Under expert guidance, they have imbued fresh momentum into the field of healthcare innovation.
