Nanchang University Queen Mary School’s Class of 2025 Graduation Ceremony Held Successfully

Marking the culmination of years of dedication and looking forward to soaring achievements, the Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferral for the Class of 2025 of Nanchang University Queen Mary School was held at 2:00 P.M. on June 20th in the Academic Auditorium of the Medical Science and Technology Innovation Center, Qianhu South Campus. Professor Chen Yeguang, the president of Nanchang University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Professor Wu Dan, the vice president of Nanchang University; Professor Colin Bailey, the president of Queen Mary University of London and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering; Professor Wen Wang, the vice president of Queen Mary University of London and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, along with representatives from administrative departments of both universities, representatives from the Faculty of Medicine, the Sino-British teaching faculty, class tutors and parents gathered together for this significant occasion. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Luo Zhijun, Dean of Nanchang University Queen Mary School.

President Chen Yeguang emphasized in his address that the Sino-British Joint Programme of Nanchang University and Queen Mary University of London stands as a benchmark for international education, shouldering the mission of medical education reform and fostering the integrated innovation of clinical medicine and biomedical science, aimed at cultivating medical professionals who possess both a profound dedication to their nation and a global vision. He encouraged the graduates to discern future trends amidst technological revolutions like gene editing and AI diagnostics, to confront industry transformations with solid medical knowledge and skills, and to persistently pursue their ideals in medicine. To conclude his speech, he offered the poetic encouragement: "Journey on, chase the wind and the moon without pause; beyond the plains lie the spring mountains," urging graduates to embrace national priorities, maintain an innovative spirit, and uphold "Great Compassion and Profound Sincerity" as their professional creed.

President Colin Bailey of Queen Mary University of London commenced his address by extending his warmest congratulations to the Class of 2025 and expressing heartfelt gratitude to the teachers and families who nurtured and supported them. He noted QMUL's standing as a research-intensive Russell Group university, highlighting its remarkable achievements in recent years in research, education, and internationalization, leading to a rise in global reputation: currently ranked 110th in the QS World University Rankings, 92nd in the US News Best Global Universities, and 24th for Research Quality. Queen Mary University of London commits to international collaborative education, and the core philosophy of the Joint Programme is to "combine the essence of Chinese and British higher education to create a uniquely global standard of education," pioneering dual-degree Sino-foreign cooperation in medical education in China. Finally, he wished the graduates smooth sailing in the vast ocean of medicine, guided by their "international perspective".

During the awarding ceremony and the conferral of degrees, leaders from both universities presented certificates of honor to outstanding graduates receiving the Nanchang University Outstanding Graduate Award, the Queen Mary University of London President's Awards, and School Awards. The Presidents of both universities then personally conferred degrees upon each graduate, turning the tassel and presenting their degree certificates.

Following the degree conferral, the teacher representative, Professor Zhang Chunping, offered sincere blessings to the graduating students. Parent representative Liang Bin expressed affirmation and deep gratitude for the school's exceptional educational achievements. Graduate representative Liu Yuxin shared sentiments of nostalgia for her time at Queen Mary School and heartfelt appreciation for her alma mater.

Riding the "Medicine" steed across the medical sea, setting sail on new journeys without wasting precious time.Since the two universities joined hands to establish the Joint Programme, they have steadily adhered to the principles of open cooperation and mutual benefit. They have deeply integrated cutting-edge concepts in biomedicine into clinical medical education, dedicated to forging versatile medical talents with solid medical foundations, sophisticated research skills, and an international perspective. After five years of rigorous training, the graduates are now setting sail! May the Class of 2025, on their long journey as doctors, always remember the university motto: "Seeking Truth and Innovation; Pursuing Virtue and Benefiting People,"and carry the earnest exhortations of their mentors. Whether exploring common health solutions on the path of scientific research or diligently serving on the clinical frontlines, may they steadily safeguard the health of the people with perseverance and courageously scale the peaks of medical science through innovation!

The graduation ceremony was simultaneously live-streamed. Over 500 attendees, including representatives from various university departments, Queen Mary School leadership, faculty, student representatives, and parents, were present at the venue. Nearly 850,000 graduates, alumni, and parents witnessed the Class of 2025 of Queen Mary School embark on their new life journeys via the university's live broadcast platform.
