3 Gold, 5 Silver, 18 Bronze! Students from Queen Mary School Achieve Outstanding Results in

the China International University Student Innovation Competition (2023)


Hosted at Tianjin University, the 9th edition of this prestigious event has concluded. Notably, the Nanchang University team distinguished themselves by winning 5 gold and 11 silver medals, thereby achieving first place in their province and a prominent position among universities nationwide.

This year's competition saw the inclusion of 26 projects from Queen Mary School in the top 500 at the national level. Among these, eight projects advanced to the finals in the 'Higher Education Main Track - International Projects' category. The rigorous contest culminated in the students' remarkable achievement of 3 gold, 5 silver, and 18 bronze medals. With dual enrollment in both Chinese and British universities, the students have emerged as a dynamic force in the international project category of university innovation competitions. Building on the momentum from their first national silver award in 2019, the students from Queen Mary School have since engaged in intensive training and consistently achieve notable success in successive competitions.

Project Overview: Addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by cancer, including patient complications and nutritional deficiencies, the entrepreneurial team has conducted extensive research in cancer-free villages to identify superior bacterial strains. This initiative led to the development of "Junyoule," a specialized formula powder that combines these strains with a balanced mix of nutrients. Designed for oncological use, this medical food aims to provide comprehensive nutritional support to cancer patients, mitigate complications, enhance life quality, and potentially extend survival.

Project Overview: In response to the complexities of ovarian cancer screening, team has integrated cutting-edge global technologies to create an ultra-sensitive diagnostic kit. This innovative tool is designed for rapid enrichment and detection of ovarian cancer cells in whole blood, facilitating genetic mutation analysis in positive cases. It addresses critical concerns of accuracy, early detection rates, and inherent limitations, with the goal of ensuring ovarian health for women globally.

Project Overview: Helicobacter pylori, recognized as a class I carcinogen for gastric cancer, has been a source of intrigue and challenge in the scientific community for more than half a century. In response to the escalating public demand for effective vaccines, the Heliguard team has embarked on an innovative trajectory, concentrating on outer membrane vesicles as an unprecedented pathway in vaccine research and development. This strategy entails ongoing advancements in both technical and practical applications, with the objective of offering a contemporary solution to this significant public health concern.


Nanchang University Queen Mary School emphasizes the cultivation of students' innovative skills, embracing a philosophy that emphasizes competition as a catalyst for teaching, learning, and creativity. This method holistically incorporates innovation and entrepreneurship into the entire spectrum of talent development. In a recent competition, the school capitalized on its strengths in international cooperative education and aims for talent development. It extensively engaged in and fostered projects related to clinical medicine and biomedical innovation and entrepreneurship.
