Nanchang University -- Queen Mary University of London Joint Academic Symposium was successfully held

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Nanchang University, the Nanchang University-Queen Mary University of London Joint Research Symposium (NCU-QMUL Joint Research Symposium) was held in the Lecture Hall of the first teaching building of the south campus of Qianhu campus on the afternoon of April 30th. This Joint Symposium took place in both the online and offline form. Professors and scholars from both universities were selected to give seminars on their research work.  The symposium attracted a lot of students, staff and investigators.

At the beginning of the symposium, Professor Richard Pickersgill, on behalf of Queen Mary University of London, welcomed all the guests, gave a brief introduction and conveyed congratulations. Professor Sir Mark Caulfield, gave a keynote speech on the topic of application of genomics and DNA sequencing in diseases diagnosis and medical health. As one of major figures in UK genomics research, Professor Sir Mark Caulfield has won several world-class medical research awards for his in-depth work on genomic linkage with hypertension. His talk greatly inspired interests of the teachers and students in health research. Other presenters at the symposium from Queen Mary University of London are Drs. Guifen Chen, Perter Thorpe and Viji Draviam.

In the second half symposium, Professor WANG Jianbin from the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences of Nanchang University gave a talk entitled “OXCTI regulates the NF-KB signaling pathway through β-hydroxybutyrate mediated ketone body homeostasis”. Professor HONG Kui from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University presented her team work data with the title “Genetics and Individualized Treatment of Arrhythmic Cardiomyopathy”. Subsequently, young alumni, Mr. WU Qilong and Ms. ZHENG Xi, two 2013 cohort graduates, and Mr. QIN Cheng, a 2014 cohort graduates, shared their postgraduate research with students.


This symposium aims to take the opportunity of 100th anniversary celebration of Nanchang University to further strengthen the academic exchanges between the two universities and to create a stronger academic atmosphere and foster the University at the age of 100 years to achieve long-term stability and eternal glory!
